Maggie Hassan has been a climate leader since she was elected as a state senator in 2004. As Governor, Hassan signed bipartisan legislation to update New Hampshire’s Renewable Portfolio Standard and invest in energy efficiency. She pushed to raise the net metering cap, issued an executive order setting new, aggressive goals for state government on energy efficiency, conservation and renewable energy, and signed the Under 2 MOU, a global compact among cities, states and provinces worldwide to limit the increase in global average temperature to below two degrees Celsius.

Hassan’s opponent, Sen. Kelly Ayotte, has a lifetime score of 35% from the League of Conservation Voters and a lifetime score of 83% on environmental issues from the Koch Brothers’ Americans for Prosperity.
